Black Louis Vuitton trunk

Large Louis Vuitton hold trunk from 1908 covered with black canvas and protected with metal edges. The wide, flat slats on the top of the trunk made it easy to stack heavy loads once the luggage was stored in the hold of a steamer boat.

A white stripe is painted diagonally on the front, back and top of the trunk to differentiate the different luggage of the original owner from the other trunks in the hold.

The initials P.L.S are on each side of the luggage, as well as some transport labels. The handles are signed L.V (Louis Vuitton)
The interior of the trunk is lined with beige patterned paper, with a Louis Vuitton manufacturer's label and an authentication serial number from the year 1908.
